STATESVILLE, N.C. — Starting Friday, August 6th at 5 p.m., Iredell Health System is tightening visitor restrictions at Iredell Memorial Hospital to help protect patients and staff from the rapidly spreading Delta variant of COVID-19.
Health officials say patients hospitalized at Iredell Memorial will be allowed to have two visitors per patient per day (including those in the Critical Care Unit and Emergency Department).
Patients giving birth will be allowed to have one support person and one visitor, but officials say those two individuals must remain the same throughout the day.
Health Officials say exceptions may be made for end-of-life situations.
Officials also say the Health System’s outpatient services will also limit the number of visitors to one individual per patient to the Same Day Surgery Center, Endoscopy Center, Radiation Therapy Center, Heart &Β Vascular Center, Imaging department, Outpatient Laboratory, Womenβs Health Center, IredellΒ Wound Care Center, Iredell Urgent Care, and all Iredell Physician Network practices, includingΒ the Iredell Mooresville campus.
If waiting rooms are full, officials say visitors will be asked to wait in their cars.
Absolutely no visitors will be allowed for COVID-19 patients, with the exception of end-of-life situations, according to a news release.

Health officials say all visitors must be 18-years-old or older, may not be showing any symptoms of illness, and must be wearing a face covering to be allowed inside any of the health system’s facilities.
