McDonald’s To Raise Pay For All Restaurant Workers

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that McDonald’s will raise the hourly pay to all 90,000 of its restaurant workers by 10% – paying at least $1 per hour more than the minumum wage.

The wage increase will go into effect on July 1st for all employees throughout the approximately 1,500 restaurants McDonald’s operates in the US. The plan also includes benefits like paid vacation, where workers will be able to accrue up to 5 days of paid time-off annually after one year of employment with the company.

The move comes after much critisism over wages and conditions at McDonald’s and other fast food chains, however it will not affect employees at McDonald’s franchises, which accounts for nearly 90% of all their USΒ restaurants.
