Wonderful Weekend, Warm Workweek Ahead

Plentiful sunshine and winds out of the southwest will allow summerlike conditions to return to the forecast.

A house call from fall has set us up for a beautiful weekend, but summer certainly hasn’t gasped its last breaths just yet. In fact, the 90s could return to the Piedmont as soon as Monday. For now, enjoy the low humidity and plentiful sunshine this weekend while it lasts. An area of high pressure will slowly build off to our east, filtering in steamy air from the south and west. While the heat and humidity won’t return all at once, temperatures will steadily rise as we head into the heart of September. Rain chances remain minimal through midweek.

The western Gulf of Mexico appears primed for tropical development by the start of next week, if not earlier. An area of low pressure in the Bay of Campeche has a 90% of becoming a named storm over the next five days. While it won’t directly threaten the Carolinas, some moisture from its remnants could arrive by next weekend. Furthermore, model trends are suggesting a tropical system could form near the Bahamas late next week and could threaten the Carolina coastline shortly after. Our WCCB Weather Team has you covered.
