CHARLOTTE, NC –   The worlds of fashion and art come together at the Mint Museum Uptown at the Halston and Warhol: Silver and Suede exhibition.  Artwork and fashion designs of 70s and 80s  icons Andy Warhol and Roy Halston Frowick are now on display.  And, there is even a Muppet connection as well!

Wilson was joined by co-curator Lesley Frowick to take a tour of the exhibition.  Lesley, who is also Halston’s niece, explained how the collaboration of the exhibition came together and the importance of the fashion pieces and the artwork in the show.  Halston and Warhol became close friends in the early 70s and had stronge influences on each other’s ideas and creative works.

The pillox hat created by Halston and made famous by former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is only one of the more than 40 Halston fashions on display.   The exhibition also includes a large display of paintings, photographs and videos by Warhol.

The Halston and Warhol: Silver and Suede exhibition at the Mint Museum Uptown will be on display through June 14th.  For more information on the Mint Museum and the Halston and Warhol exhibition can be found at their website mintmuseum.org.
