Significant severe weather threat Monday

The second round Monday morning: A line of thunderstorms forming just ahead of the cold front will move into the North Carolina mountains. This round could pack more of a punch. The main concerns will be damaging wind gusts and the potential for a few isolated tornadoes as the line of storms pushes through Timing Monday- Mountains 5am-9am, East of the mountains 9am-1pm Have multiple ways to get alerts tonight into tomorrow. Some storms will happen in the dark so have a plan in place.

Hurricane Alpha? Amped Up Season Forecast, Names May Run Out

Already smashing records, this year’s hyperactive Atlantic hurricane season is about to get even nastier, forecasters predict. In the coming months, they expect to run out of traditional hurricane names and see about twice as much storm activity as a normal year.

Tropical Storm Isaias spawned tornadoes and dumped rain during an inland march up the U.S. East Coast on Tuesday after making landfall as a hurricane along the North Carolina coast, where it piled boats against the docks and caused floods and fires that displaced dozens of people. At least one person was killed when one of its twisters hit a mobile home park.
