BCC Rally Pink Bow Campaign

In 2013 BCC Rally raised $220,000, of which $75,000 was from the Pink Bow Campaign, all to benefit Susan G. Komen. Here’s a quick overview of the campaign andhow to get involved:

  • How we started the pink bow campaign and why we expanded- originally we tied pink tulle on mailboxes in our neighborhood; we expanded to other neighborhoods, then found a manufacturer and expanded to schools and businesses

  • Purpose of the bow – raise awareness and funds and act as a gentle reminder to all to schedule a mammogram, it also acts as a show of support to anyone battling this dreadful disease

  • How it works across the community –now we involve schools and businesses, we have corporate execs and school kids talking about breast cancer and how early detection saves lives as they promote our bows to their school friends and business colleagues.

  • Who “pinks up” with bows? – businesses, schools, corporations, neighborhoods, restaurants, stores, churches, other nonprofits, community groups, sports teams or individuals

  • 3 sizes of bows:      small -$2- for ponytails, backpacks, purses

medium- $5 – for office – desk, cubicle, computer

large-  $7 –mailbox, cars and trees

  • Where the money raised goes –education, support, and treatment in our community – 75% stays in Charlotte and surrounding 13 counties. Interestingly of the 25% that goes to HQ for research, NC receives more back because of the excellent research facilities at UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, Duke and Wake Forest

  • Many different ways to support BCC Rally – participate in our events, become a business partner offering cash or an in-kind donation, offer a silent auction donation, advertise in our Event Week Program.

  • How can people get involved with the Pink Bow Campaign and order bows  – we want to encourage neighborhoods, schools and businesses to start their own Pink Bow Campaign – ideas on our  website www.bccrally.org, or contact pinkbows4rally@gmail.com
