10 Businesses Serving Cocktails To-Go In Charlotte, Limited Time Only

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Restaurants are now offering cocktails to-go to support businesses during the pandemic, as health officials urge everyone to stay home to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Roy Cooper signed an executive order, effective on December 21st, allowing the delivery and carry-out of mixed alcoholic beverages in North Carolina, however the order is temporary and will end on January 31st, 2021.

“This order will help people avoid settings that can contribute to increased viral spread while giving restaurants and bars a financial boost that they need right now,” said Governor Cooper in a statement. “With cases and hospitalizations high around the country, let’s all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 while supporting local, small businesses safely.”

Gov. Cooper says the temporary order has some restrictions including only allowing customers to purchase one drink per person, alcohol must be in a sealed container at all times during transit, and you must be at least 21 years of age to purchase.

According to Cooper’s executive order, you don’t have to order food with your to-go cocktail, and the statewide curfew on alcohol does not apply for to-go orders.

Several states have passed similar orders allowing the delivery of alcohol as many restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and distilleries struggle to stay open.
