Winter-like stretch continues into weekend
A few showers arrive on Sunday as a weak rainmaking system arrives from the west.
Winter roars back into the Carolinas as we close out the week, but at least it’s dry. A strong ridge of high pressure is sitting over the East Coast this Thursday, keeping rain chances at bay for now. This ridge will slide northward over the coming days, pumping cold air into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area from the northeast. Temperatures will end up squarely in the 40s and 50s on Friday and Saturday; lows will dip into the 20s and 30s for most.
Expect mostly cloudy skies to build in by Saturday night as a weak rainmaking system approaches from the west. While most of the moisture will get hung up in the mountains, a few showers could make their way into the Foothills and Piedmont Sunday afternoon and evening. A few flakes could mix in with the rain at times in the High Country, but measurable accumulations appear unlikely. Highs will struggle to clear the 30s and 40s across the board as we close out the weekend. Next week starts on a much warmer note, with highs on Monday and Tuesday likely ending up in the 50s and 60s. Longer-range models are picking up on a few rounds of showers as we head into the heart of December.
