LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) β Sport’s highest court has dismissed Roman Kreuziger’s request to start the three-week Spanish Vuelta on Saturday while suspected of doping.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says the Czech Republic rider remains provisionally suspended by the International Cycling Union while he is under investigation.
The UCI says long-term analysis of Kreuziger’s blood values in his biological passport suggests he was doping in 2012.
Kreuziger denies wrongdoing while riding then for the Astana team.
In June, Tinkoff-Saxo dropped Kreuziger from its Tour de France squad because of the ongoing case.
However, the team then selected him this month for the Tour of Poland because no formal disciplinary action had been taken.
The UCI intervened on the eve of the Polish stage race with a provisional suspension to keep Kreuziger sidelined.
