Terrence Ross scored 24 points as Toronto won for the fifth time in six games, 102-94 over the Pacers.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Rockets have clinched a playoff berth while damaging Oklahoma City’s hopes of grabbing the No. 1 seed in the NBA playoffs. James Harden scored 39 points and the Rockets ended a three-game skid by downing the Thunder 111-107. ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Nashville Predators prevented the Anaheim Ducks from padding their lead in the NHL’s Pacific Division and pulling within one point of West-leading St. Louis. Colin Wilson and Mike Fisher each scored twice in the Predators’ 5-2 victory at Anaheim. Fisher notched the first two goals before Fisher put Nashville ahead 3-0 just 14 minutes into the game.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox raised their 2013 World Series banner along the Green Monster at Fenway Park before dropping their home opener, 6-2 to Milwaukee. Boston’s bullpen hadn’t allowed a run this season before Edward Mujica (moo-HEE’-kuh) was charged with four runs in the ninth, including Lyle Overbay’s tiebreaking, two-run double. Brewers designated hitter Ryan Braun was loudly booed in his first road game since serving a 65-game suspension for violating baseball’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chase Utley hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs as Philadelphia downed the Chicago Cubs 7-2, spoiling the 100th anniversary celebration of Wrigley Field. John Mayberry Jr. also smacked a two-run shot for his fourth career pinch-hit homer. Roberto Hernandez pitched into the sixth inning in his Phillies debut after signing a one-year, $4.5 million contract in the offseason.
