Family Of Slain CATS Bus Driver Pleads For Help Finding Suspected Killer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The mother of a murdered CATS bus driver is pleading for help as police release images of her son’s suspected killer.

Detectives believe the man seen in an SUV shot and killed 41-year-old Ethan Rivera in an act of road rage.

“He, he had a tremendous heart. And he had a tremendous smile. And they took all that away from us,” said Rivera’s mother Sylvia, during a news conference on Tuesday.

Ethan Rivera was murdered in Uptown Charlotte Friday night.

“You know, he’s my oldest son. And I don’t even know what to do with this right now,” Sylvia Rivera said.

Police released surveillance images Tuesday, taken from cameras on board Rivera’s bus.

They show the suspected killer in the driver’s seat of a 2003 to 2005 Honda Pilot.

Detectives say the SUV is unique because it has running boards on both sides and square back-up lights near the license plate.

“I please beg you, if you know anything, please, please call, say something,” Sylvia Rivera said Tuesday.

She and other family members visited a memorial on Tuesday, leaving candles at the spot where he was shot.

A GoFundMe page for the family has raised more than $8,000 so far.
