Β CHARLOTTE, NC — About 50 local immigrants are now American citizens. Β
Congressman Robert Pittenger helped welcome the men and women during a naturalization ceremony at the federal courthouse in Uptown Friday. Β Pittenger says it’s important to take time to celebrate those who gain U.S. citizenship the right way.
“They’ve gone through our naturalization process,” said Pittenger. Β “They’ve gone through the tremendous rigor and what they’ve had to learn and study and apply to know our laws. Β So I’m grateful for them.”
The new citizens came from more than 30 different countries.
