UPDATE: The sink hole on Beatties Ford Road will result in a detour during evening rush hour.
Crews say they have removed the broken pipe and are working to prepare the new pipe after a sink hole emerged on Beatties Ford Road.
Road work will continue into the evening, which means the detour will remain through evening rush hour.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The 1900 block of Beatties Ford Road has been closed between LaSalle Street and Estelle Street due to a sink hole.
Officials with Charlotte Water say crews are currently working to replace 20 feet of 12 inch drinking water pipe.
Detours are in place that will put drivers on LaSalle Street or Oaklawn Avenue and then onto Statesville Avenue. Officials say the detours will be in place through at least the rush hour, while CMPD says the area could be closed for up to 24 hours.
