Car Break-In Prompts Fight, Man Promises Revenge, Now 2 Dead

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A black Dodge Challenger sits at the middle of a deadly confrontation. The guy who owned the car promised revenge after learning the vehicle had been broken into. He showed up at the house at 5900 The Plaza with a gun and started firing Thursday afternoon.
21-year-old Daquan Alston fired back. Both men were killed. Alston’s death breaks 18-year-old Siera Adams’ heart. She was with him just 30 minutes before he died, heard the police sirens and came running. She says, “We need to come together. This has to stop! It really does.”
Coincidentally, Siera’s dad is part of Team True Blue, a group that works to prevent violence. Will Adams says, “This has to stop. This makes absolutely no sense.”
The police tell WCCB Charlotte they have been called to the house before but wouldn’t discuss why, saying that is now part of this investigation. “There were other family members here and they have gone to the Law Enforcement Center to speak with detectives,” says Lt. Jeff Harless.
Longtime east Charlotte resident Bell Taylor doesn’t know either of Thursday’s victims, but their deaths brought tears to her eyes as she thought about her own son and grandchildren. She tells WCCB News @ Ten anchor Morgan Fogarty, “A life does not seem to matter anymore.”
These two killings bring the murder count in Charlotte up to 52 so far this year. There were 42 in all of last year.
