UPDATE: Police have identified the man killed by the light rail train this morning as 48-year-old Shawn Davis.
CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is investigating the death of a man who was killed this morning after being hit by a light rail train.
The accident is believed to have happened shortly after one o’clock this morning near the Archdale Station in South Charlotte. The last train to run that stretch was around 1:30am.
The stretch is an elevated track that runs between South Boulevard and Old Pineville Road.
The unidentified victim was reportedly laying down on the southbound tracks and was unseen by the LYNX operator identified as Florence Howard.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Officials say the LYNX Blue Line has returned to a regular schedule.
