NEW YORK (AP) β€” Tom Brady’s appeal of his four-game suspension for his alleged part in Deflategate is being heard today by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL’). The hearing is taking place at NFL headquarters in New York.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) β€” The second game of the College World Series is tonight and with another win defending champion Vanderbilt will have another championship. The Commodores won the opening game of the best-of-three series last night beating Virginia 5-1. A year ago the Commodores beat the Cavaliers in the World Series as well.

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) β€” There reportedly is new evidence that shows Pete Rose bet on Cincinnati Reds games during his last season as an active player in 1986. ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” said it obtained a notebook seized by U.S. Postal Inspection Service in October 1989 from Rose associate Michael Bertolini, which reflect betting records from March to July 1986.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β€” The Charlotte Hornets are having a news conference today and it is believed they will announce that they will host the 2017 NBA All-Star Game. The news conference is scheduled to include NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, team owner Michael Jordan and Charlotte Mayor Dan Clodfelter.

UNDATED (AP) β€” The U.S. entry in the Women’s World Cup reached the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Colombia last night. Up next for the Americans is a match with China on Friday in Ottawa. The United States is seeking its third World Cup title, but first since 1999.
