DENVER, NC — Two Lincoln County Schools are dismissing early today after an accident causes power outages in the area.
Officials with Lincoln County School District say East Lincoln High School and Catawba Springs Elementary will dismiss at 10am Thursday due to power outages.
The outages were caused by a vehicle that crashed into a nearby power pole at Little Egypt Road and NC 73 and took down several power lines.
Officials were initially told by Duke Energy crews that power should be restored within an hour, but now they say it could be eight to ten hours before it is fully restored.
Highway 73 at Little Egypt Road is also closed until repairs can be completed. Closure could also last 8-10 hours.
