Kings Mountain’s Popular ‘Fantasy Light Show’ Canceled Weeks Before Holiday Season

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — A long-time Christmas tradition is now canceled – weeks before the start of the holiday season.

Some people in Kings Mountain want city leaders to bring back this year’s ‘Fantasy Light Show’.  For 13 years the event lit up the downtown area ushering in the Christmas Holiday Season.  Organizers say thousands of people from all over the country traveled to town every year just to catch the fantastic light display.

But, this year, residents were stunned when they saw a Facebook post on the ‘Fantasy Light Show’s’ page announcing this year’s event had been canceled.  It prompted hundreds of people to speak out expressing their opinion over the decision.  Many residents commented they believed the cancellation was a result of the recent election.  Scott Neisler lost to Rob Wagman.  Others believe the city canceled it because of tree removals around a new downtown business under construction.
