Wilson’s World: Hanging with the Hard Hitting Charlotte Roller Girls

The Charlotte Roller Girls celebrate 10 years of rocking roller derby this Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Roller Girls have been kicking flat track roller derby butt for 10 years.  Wilson was with the hard hitting ladies today where they were getting in some practice for their upcoming 10th anniversary intra-league bout this weekend.

Wilson has followed the Roller Girls since their beginning and has visited them frequently through the years.  The girls took some time out to talk with Wilson about the team and their passion for the roller derby.

The Charlotte Roller Girls celebrate this weekend at the Grady Cole Center for their special 10th Anniversary Intra-League Throwback Bout.  Doors open at 4:30pm, bout begins at 5pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Sleepy Poet, the Common Market and at the door.  To find out more about the event as well as more about the team,  check out the Charlotte Roller Girls on Facebook or on their website at charlotterollergirls.com.

The Charlotte Roller Girls are not just all about the flat track, but they are very community oriented working with various charity organizations in the area including Safe Alliance, Hands on Charlotte, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas.
