Infant, Woman Critically Injured In Northeast Charlotte Wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a wreck that critically injured an infant and a woman in northeast Charlotte Monday morning.

Detectives say Dequira Fleming was driving a Honda Accord on Rocky River Road when she crossed the double-yellow line and struck a Volkswagen Jetta head-on.

Police say the infant was in a child booster seat inside Fleming’s car but investigators say the seat was not appropriate for the child’s age and weight.

The child and the driver of the Jetta were taken to a local hospital via an ambulance.  However, Fleming was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.

No charges have been filed at this time.  Police are asking for witnesses to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
