Temperatures Climb Through Weekend

Mostly sunny skies carry through your Monday morning, but scattered clouds may obscure the eclipse in the afternoon for some.

We’re in temperature recovery mode for the first weekend of April after a chilly end to the workweek. Highs will be warmer on Sunday, but patchy frost may creep into the Piedmont to kick off the second half of the weekend. Expect highs close to 70º in the Metro Sunday afternoon. A few clouds will build in overnight as we head into Monday morning, but the workweek ahead will start on a sunny note. The eclipse begins for most at around 1:55 PM on Monday and peaks just before 3:15 PM; scattered clouds may obscure the viewing for areas north and west of the Metro.

Regardless of coverage on Monday, overcast skies settle into the Carolinas by Tuesday morning. A few showers or an isolated storm may roll through the WCCB Charlotte viewing area in the afternoon, but we’ll remain dry through most of the day. We’ll need to watch Wednesday night into Thursday for severe potential, although the main threat area lies to the south for now. The forecast for next weekend is trending drier and warmer with highs approaching 80º.
