FBI Releases Photos Of Gun Used In Trump Assassination Attempt

The Latest:

The FBI has released images showing the weapon and IED the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump had in his possession.

The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed after firing multiple rounds towards former President Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

A senior FBI official says the gunman in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump searched online for events of both Trump and President Joe Biden and saw the Pennsylvania campaign rally where he opened fire last month as a “target of opportunity.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI said former President Donald Trump was struck in the ear by a bullet during an assassination attempt on July 13, as the agency moved Friday to clarify what happened after nearly two weeks of confusion and conflicting accounts.

In a statement issued Friday evening, the FBI said “what struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle.”

The statement came two days after FBI Director Christopher Wray said during congressional testimony that it was not clear whether Trump’s injuries were caused by a bullet or shrapnel.
