Thursday will be much colder with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Clouds will be on the increase Friday as a storm begins to approach the area from the Gulf of Mexico. Although there may be a few rain or snow showers during the afternoon, most of the day will remain mostly dry with highs in the low to mid 40s. Moisture will begin to overspread the area Friday evening and become more widespread overnight. Scattered rain or snow showers will transition to a more light to moderate snow after midnight. Periods of snow is expected until 10am Saturday before the storm begins to move east of the area. Lingering flurries and snow showers are possible until 2pm before our skies begin to clear. In addition to the snow, frigid temperatures will overspread the area Friday night and linger through the weekend. Highs Saturday and Sunday will only reach the low to mid 30s, with overnight lows in the single digits and teens. Any snow that melts during the afternoons will refreeze at night, black ice will be a concern Saturday and Sunday nights. Cold and quiet weather will persist into early next week.
