Tree Topples Home During Microburst In Mooresville
MOORESVILLE, NC — An easy Sunday evening on the lake, quickly turned into a few minutes of pure horror.
“I was praying to the Lord. Keep me safe. Keep me safe,” said Tom Sullivan.
Donna Hrko was also having dinner when a when the National Weather Service says a microburst swept through a part of Lake Norman in Mooresville.
“All of a sudden, a line of water just kind of came up the cove, and it was like a fire hose on our windows and the wind just got insane,” said Hrko.
That wind took down a tree in her backyard.
“I can’t even imagine being in my home and the tree falling,” Hrko said.
That’s what happened a few streets over. A tree toppled onto a home. The couple living in the house says they were home when the tree came down. Miraculously, they weren’t hurt but the home that’s been in their family for 50 years, looks likely to be a total loss.
Down the street, Tom Sullivan’s is more concerned with helping his neighbors than what happened in his own backyard.
“I’ve been blessed to bless others, so that’s what I try to do,” Sullivan explained.
