CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winter weather has had many of us fighting with power outages.
one local inventor has created a way for your home to stay lit even if the electricity goes out.
Picture this, your neighborhood is pitch black and everyone has lost power. When you walk into your home you can still turn on the light.
It’s called Smartcharge Light. Living right here in Charlotte, Shailendra Suman is the founder and CEO of Smartcharge.
He says you never have to worry about being in the dark again, “Everything is on, here I cut the power, light was on, it will remain on. You can turn it off.”
You’re probably wondering how this works, Suman says it’s the grid and switch sensor technology, “We put our technology and rechargeable battery all inside the light bulb. So the battery provides the power and our technology detects if the utility power is there or not.”
Bob Chew and his wife Gerri love it, “I think it’s a great invention. It’s still lit and there’s no power it’s just us lightening it up how good is that.”
This led light gives 4 hours of continuous light without electricity, leaving this couple wondering one thing, which room they’re going to put it in, “Probably in the kitchen maybe something like that.
