UPDATE: Third Suspect Arrested In Northwest Charlotte Homicide

UPDATE: CMPD has arrested a third suspect in connection with the murder of Germany Byers.

26-year-old Joseph Jones was arrested Tuesday and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The investigation is still ongoing.

UPDATE:  CMPD has arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of Germany Byers.  On Thursday, March 20th, Johnquan Edward Rowell, 25, was arrested and charged with Murder and Felony Conspiracy

UPDATE: CMPD has arrested 22-year-old Kyerra Channing Michelle Guinn for the murder of Germany Byers.   This case is still under investigation and more information will be released as it develops.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday afternoon in northwest Charlotte.

Officers responded to a shooting on LaSalle Street at Beatties Ford Road just before 12:30pm. Detectives say 37-year-old Germany Byers was found at that location suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police say he was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.  No arrests have been made at this time.  Check back for updates.
