Parents Respond After An Alleged Sexual Assault At Whitewater Middle School

CHARLOTTE, NC — “That’s horrible,” said Sheila Clark. “This world is crazy now.”

Neighbors living around Whitewater Middle School, who don’t even have kids there, were shocked to hear the allegations of sexual assault on a 14-year-old female student.

CMPD says they are investigating claims that two juvenile Whitewater Middle students assaulted the teen while inside the school.

“There needs to be some discipline with these children instead of slapping them on the hands,” said Clark.

Thursday afternoon, parents picking up their kids from baseball practice on the school’s fields say their children don’t go there, but if they did they’d be getting some answers.

“I’d be upset,” said Clark, “me personally, I’d be coming to the school seeing what’s going on.”

CMS sent a ConnectEd message to parents saying they’ve received the alleged assault report and launched an immediate investigation, but aren’t able to give any further details.

Neighbors say the first question they wondered is, where were faculty and staff when this was allegedly happening in school?

“Everybody is curious, I’m sure, about that,” said Clark, “I think a lot of things get brushed under the rug that should not be. They need to be held responsible.”
