Greensboro Police Identify Victim In 2nd Fatal Mall Shooting In 3 Months

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) – Police in North Carolina have identified a man who was shot and killed in Greensboro.

Police said in a news release that 34-year-old Sherrod Crum was shot around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and later died at a hospital. Police said Crum had been involved in a dispute with a suspect before the shooting.

Officials say it is the second fatal shooting at a mall in three months.

A news release from the Greensboro Police Department on Thursday said security officials at Four Seasons Town Centre alerted authorities of the shooting.

According to police, witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired from a gold-colored sedan, with one round hitting a man walking outside the mall at an entrance to a store.

Spokeswoman Susan Danielsen said Crum was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers searched the area around the mall for the suspect’s car.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports the shooting occurred near where 33-year-old Westley Tyler Tugman of Lenoir man was shot to death on Feb. 18 as he walked out of the mall.
