Panthers Sign WR Curtis Samuel and DE Daeshon Hall

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (NEWS RELEASE) — The Carolina Panthers have signed 2017 second-round draft choice wide receiver Curtis Samuel and third-round draft choice defensive end Daeshon Hall, the team announced Friday.

Samuel, from Ohio State, was selected with the 40th overall pick. Samuel was a first-team All-American last year, and was the only player in the FBS to top 700 yards rushing and receiving, scoring 15 total touchdowns. Samuel finished his career as the only player in Ohio State history with at least 1,000-plus rushing and receiving yards (1,286 rushing, 1,249 receiving). He clocked in a time of 4.31 seconds in the 40-yard dash, the second-fastest among all players in this spring’s NFL Combine.

Carolina moved up 21 spots in the third round to pick Hall. Last year, Hall had 13 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks for Texas A&M as he was invited to the Senior Bowl. He also led the Aggies with 12 quarterback hurries. Hall was among the team leaders in sacks, quarterback pressures and tackles for loss in three of his four seasons.
