CHARLOTTE, NC– “I think if it would have been another hour or maybe another two hours I think he would have probably bled out,” said Maiden Police Officer, Brandon Winstead.

Maiden Police Officer Brandon Winstead was on his routine patrol Monday afternoon when he drove down miles lane and found this Range Rover with the 62- year old driver bleeding from stab wounds to his arms and throat.

“When I got out of the car to help him he said please don’t hurt me so I would think he thought I was the suspects,” said Winstead.

The victim told Winstead he was driving Interstate-40 from his home in Greensboro to his job in  Bessemer City when he got tired and pulled over.

“He woke up to them tapping on the window with the firearm one of the guys got in the vehicle with him and basically kidnapped him and told him to drive,” said Winstead.

From the road you can’t see behind these bushes it was only because Officer Winstead came all the way down to check cul de sac as part of his patrol that he found the victim tucked behind here left for dead.

The suspects took the man’s money and a laptop then stabbed him multiple times. The victim was airlifted to CMC Main.  Officer Winstead drove there to see him after surgery where he says the man and his wife thanked him for saving his life.

“I think everybody’s glad that for whatever reason I went down that road,” said Winstead.
