Prosecutors Say South Meck Teacher Promised Grades For Sex Acts

CHARLOTTE, NC– “I knew he had study groups but like I heard it was just for poetry you know innocent things,” said South Meck student, Edison Soto.

But there’s nothing innocent about the allegations against 28- year old South Meck English teacher Juan Vazquez. In court Thursday the D-A’s office said the teacher had up to seven students to his apartment starting in January, all boys, 17 and 18 years old. While there, the D-A said Vazquez promised an A in class if students engaged in sex acts, he’s accused of massaging them in their underwear, showing porn to four of them and taking pictures of one student’s private area.

“It’s frightening because these young boys these young children trust the teachers,” said parent, Tommie Richardson.

South Meck parents say they’re appalled. The principal sent parents a message Wednesday night saying they are working closely with police.

“Anytime a situation like that arises it saddens me because we know what our charge is when we go into a classroom and it is to educate the students that are there,” said CMS Board Member, Mary McCray.

Students say Vazquez was a popular teacher of AP and 11th grade English. From Vazquez’s own Twitter account you can see pictures of him at the South Meck prom just this past weekend.

“Teacher wise, everyone liked him and I think that’s the irony of it like everyone liked him everyone knew who he was and no one would have guessed he would do something like that”
