BOSTON (AP) — It’s parade day in Boston for the NFL champion Patriots. The team is being honored for its exciting win over the Seahawks on Sunday. The parade had been announced for yesterday but more snow in Boston on Monday forced a postponement.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Hall of Fame coach Geno Auriemma (aw-ree-EH’-muh) of Connecticut has reached 900 victories faster than any other college coach. He led his Huskies to a 96-36 win last night over Cincinnati. Auriemma needed just 1,034 games to reach the milestone and is tied with former Texas coach Jody Conradt for fifth place on the all-time list of women’s college basketball coaches.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky, the top team in men’s basketball, improved to 22-0 last night. The Wildcats held off Georgia 69-58. Andrew Harrison scored a season-high 23 points in the win.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended for at least one year without pay for violating the league’s substance-abuse program. Gordon, who has already served two league suspensions, is a former Pro Bowl receiver who led the league in receiving yards in 2013.
ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks are back on the court tonight after seeing their 19-game winning streak come to an end. The Hawks, who lost to the Pelicans in New Orleans Monday night, are home this evening to the Washington Wizards in a Southeast Division game.
