Hundreds Walk In Uptown To Help Fight Cystic Fibrosis
CHARLOTTE, NC — More than 700 people participated in Saturday’s annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides walk at Romare Bearden Park.
Participants rallied around those battling cystic fibrosis Saturday morning and walked by their sides through uptown. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness and help cure cystic fibrosis, which is a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe.
The latest numbers show 800 people in North Carolina suffer from the disease, and 30,000 in the U.S.
WCCB’s Courtney Francisco hosted the event. So far, officials say the Great Strides walk has raised more than $263,000 for the cause.
