NEW YORK (AP) β Ray Rice is having another bad day. Twenty-four hours after he was dropped by the Ravens and suspended by the NFL, Rice was informed that he’s been dropped by two sponsors, Nike and video game publisher Electronic Arts. His image was in the Madden NFL 15 video game but will be deleted via an online update.
CLEVELAND (AP) β The newest member of the Cleveland Cavaliers has signed a contract. Free agent forward Shawn Marion is joining the Cavs, who have gone from one of the NBA’s worst teams to one of its best in just a few months.
ATLANTA (AP) β Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has been disciplined by CEO Steve Koonin for making racially charged comments about Luol Deng (LOO’-ul dehng). When the team was considering Deng as a free agent this year, Ferry described Deng as having “a little African in him” and as being “a two-faced liar and cheat.” Ferry says he was repeating comments he had heard about Deng. The discipline hasn’t been disclosed.
NEW YORK (AP) β Detroit Pistons center Greg Monroe has been suspended for two games without pay for pleading guilty to driving while visibly impaired in Michigan. The NBA made the announcement a day after the Pistons signed the restricted free agent to a $5.48 million, one-year qualifying offer.
