Suspect Charged In Charlotte’s 38th Homicide of 2017

CHARlOTTE, NC — Police have charged a 63-year-old man in the shooting death of a 24-year-old victim Monday morning.

Maurice Grant is charged with killing William Weddington outside his mother’s home on Spring Terrace Lane. According to Weddington’s mother, Grant was a family friend.

The mother says her son was upset over his car and got into an argument with Grant. The argument escalated, and that’s when police say the shooting happened.

Police arrested Grant at the Weddington home. The mother says her son will be laid to rest Friday.
