Cosby Accuser’s Charlotte Connection

NORRISTOWN, PA / CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bill Cosby’s wife walked into court with him Monday, her first appearance at his trial. Also by his side, his publicist Andrew Wyatt, who said this when reporters asked why Cosby didn’t testify in his own defense: “Why should he testify? he already did, he testified every day, his deposition was out there, he was truthful.”

Inside the courtroom, closing arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys. Prosecutors say Cosby used his role as a mentor and respected public figure to gain his alleged victim’s trust, then drug her and sexually assault her in 2004 at his home outside Philadelphia. Cosby’s attorneys say the woman had too many inconsistencies in her story to be a reliable witness.

That woman is Andrea Constand. She is a former Temple University employee.

WCCB has learned she is also a former Charlotte resident.

She reportedly moved here from Canada. Property records show Constand lived on Provence Village Lane off Providence Road. She purchased a town home there in February 2008 for $500,000. Around that time, Cosby paid Constand an undisclosed amount of money in a civil suit settlement.

He has sought to have that money refunded since the case was re-opened. In 2008, Constand and her massage clinic were profiled in a local magazine called “Today’s Charlotte Woman.” Her business then operated out of two story building on East Boulevard in Dilworth. We checked, and Constand was licensed by North Carolina in March 2008. Her license expired in 2009.

She testified last week that Cosby offered her three blue pills that he said were herbal and would help her relax. She says she lost consciousness. Cosby’s admitted he gave her the pills and engaged in sexual contact with her.

His attorneys say it was consensual.

Property records show Constand sold the south Charlotte town home in 2015.

Cosby could face up to ten years in prison for each of the three charges he faces.

More than 50 women have spoken out to various media outlets about allegations of sexual misconduct by him.
