Monroe mother charged in infant’s death, police cite co-sleeping

MONROE, N.C. – A Monroe mother is facing charges after police say co-sleeping caused her infant’s death. 27-year-old Natricia Wright faces involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse charges.

Monroe Police responded to a Bragg Street home in May for an unresponsive infant. Following a three-month investigation, detectives determined the death resulted from criminal conduct related to co-sleeping.

Chief Rhett Bolen stated the heavy decision to charge a parent was based strictly on facts.

Wright is being held on a $750,000 secure bond.
