Celebration of life held for Charlotte flight attendant killed in midair collision

CHARLOTTE, NC  — Family, friends and colleagues gather to remember one of the Charlotte flight attendants killed in the DC plane crash. 

 The two hour service at  University City United Methodist Church celebrated the life of Danasia Elder Saturday afternoon.

The 34-year-old was a part of the Charlotte based crew that died tragically when an American Airlines plane and a military helicopter collided over Washington DC. 

People who knew Elder said she was a “caring person” with a passion for flying.

Elder  leaves behind a husband and two daughters.

According to Elder’s obituary – she graduated from Charlotte’s Vance High School – now renamed Chambers High.

She also studied human resources at Central Piedmont Community College.
