Six-Year-Old Boy Injured In Northwest Charlotte Dog Attack

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A six-year-old boy was injured during a dog attack in northwest Charlotte Saturday afternoon.

The CMPD says the incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Anastasia Court.

Police say the victim was playing outside when he was attacked by a dog that had broken free from its collar while being walked.

A neighbor shot the dog in order to get it to stop attacking the child.Β  The dog died and the child was taken to CMC main where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Animal Care & Control has identified the dog’s owner and citations will be issued.

Authorities say there is no previous history with this dog. The dog was transported to the shelter and will be tested for rabies.
