Former Panthers LB arrested, accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend
Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Amare Barno was arrested in Charlotte late Wednesday night on domestic violence charges, according to court documents.
Barno is accused of running at and aggressively pushing his ex-girlfriend into a vehicle, according to the arrest warrant. Court documents also said he pushed her again after she didn’t fall.
According to the documents, there was a back and forth between items the victim was removing from the residence. The documents said Barno attempted to take a purse he bought for his ex-girlfriend, dumped out all the contents inside, leading the victim to turn off the power to the home and him using physical force.
Barno is facing two misdemeanor charges for assault on a female and crime of domestic violence.
Barno played for Virginia Tech and was drafted by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He appeared in 29 games across three seasons being released earlier this year in July.
