New Hope Firefighter Recovering From Injuries Suffered Fighting Gastonia Fire

GASTONIA, N.C. — A New Hope Firefighter is recovering after being injured while battling a Gastonia fire Friday night.
On Friday, December 22, 2017, at about 10:50 p.m., fire crews from the Union Road Fire Department and New Hope Fired Department responded to a residential fire on Sugarcane Lane in Gastonia.
A veteran New Hope Fire fighter fell through the floor into a crawl space while fighting the fire.  He was quickly removed from the hole and the structure and taken to CMC-Main where he was treated for second degree burns on both legs.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated  by the Gaston County Fire Marshals Office.
