CHS Deploys MED-1 To Aid Bed Shortage And High Patient Volume Due To Flu At Atlanta Hospital

CHARLOTTE, NC — Carolinas Healthcare System has deployed MED-1 to Atlanta in response to a bed shortage and high patient volume due to the active flu season.

Construction at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta has caused a massive bed shortage during a time of what hospital officials call a ‘higher than expected’ patient volume due to this season’s flu epidemic. Officials say MED-1 will help provide comprehensive care to patients.

The deployment is currently scheduled to last 30 days, according to CHS officials, but is subject to change based on need. A team will also be traveling with MED-1 to provide training for Grady Memorial staff until they are able to function on their own.
