1 dead, 1 injured in south Charlotte house fire
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person died in an overnight house fire in south Charlotte.
Around 1:45 a.m., firefighters responded to a single story home showing flames in the 9200 block of Raintree Lane off Providence Road.
Firefighters searched the home and found two victims inside. One patient was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Another was transported to a local burn center.
The fire was brought under control in 35 minutes and caused approximately $177,000 in damages.
Investigators said the fire was accidental and started in the back deck area. They also said a smoke detector was found inside the home, but it did not have a battery.
