CMPD Recognized Five Employees As Part of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has recognized five employees from its Communications Division with special awards. National Public Safety Telecommunications Week was celebrated across the country last week. Because of death in our Communications family, CMPD’s awards ceremony was postponed until this week.
The award winners were selected by their peers, supervisors and management for consistently outstanding work representative of the best in their profession.
Marvin Grant was named Telecommunicator of the Year. He is confident in both call-taking and dispatching and is known for having a positive attitude and always being willing to help out.
Taylor Sloop was named DCI Technician of the Year. She effectively manages the constant flow of data in the local and national criminal information systems. She’s also a confident trainer, who made significant contributions in updating the training syllabus.
Lori Pina was named Trainer of the Year. She has an exceptional ability to train new employees at both call-taking and dispatching and was recently selected as a lead telecommunicator.
Armando Rojas was named Trainee of the Year. He quickly learned and applied the fundamentals of the job and is a leader on his shift.
Kelly Alvarez was named Supervisor of the Year. She manages up to 33 call-takers, dispatchers and DCI technicians and oversees normal and emergency communications for 13 patrol divisions.
