ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC — Alexander County’s superintendent announced Friday that schools will close on Wednesday, May 16th due to a large number of teachers wishing to participate in the “March For Students and Rally For Respect” in Raleigh.
The superintendent’s announcement was posted to the district’s Facebook page Friday evening. He says so far 71 teachers have requested the day off, which creates more absences than the district can adequately cover.
