Man Arrested After Sliding Down Epicentre Awning, Landing On Car
CHARLOTTE, NC — A dangerous stunt at the Epicentre in Uptown landed one man in jail.
He slid down an awning covering some stairs, landed on a car and bounced onto the pavement. He almost landed in the middle of moving traffic.
Local radio host, Chewy, recorded it on his phone, and the sound of impact is cringe worthy.

Instantly, the guy gets up on his feet and celebrates. He puts on his shoe that flew off and wobbles away.
“Don’t try it at home, and definitely don’t try it in public!” said Chewy.
Chewy says the guy passed him Thursday night on the second floor of the Epicentre.
“All I heard was. ‘You all want to see some crazy stuff?’,” said Chewy
Chewy says the next thing he knew, the guy jumped down on the awning and slid. You can hear the crowd screaming in the video when he smacks the ground.
“People got nervous for a second, but he jumped up,” said Chewy.
Police identified the guy as Alex Freudenberg.
The 26-year-old ultimately landed in the Mecklenburg County Jail for shattering a white SUV’s windshield.
The owner did not want to go on camera, but he tells WCCB Charlotte he was not near the car when it happened.
We showed him the video for the first time, and his initial concern was how close the man came to moving traffic. He says it’s not clear if the guy will pay for his shattered windshield.
Those who saw it have a message for the wannabe daredevil: “He needs to take life a little bit more seriously,” said Chewy.
The Epicentre didn’t respond for comment. The man who slid down the awning did not respond either.
