Nation’s Capitol Honors Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day
WASHINGTON, DC — America’s fallen war heroes were remembered across the country this Memorial Day. In the nation’s capitol, a pop-up memorial at the National Mall featured more than 600,000 poppies. That is one for each American who has died in service since World War I.
President Trump laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
“We will never forget our heroes,” said President Trump. “They fought and bled and died so that America would forever remain safe and strong and free.”
The President paid tribute to veterans attending the event, including World War II veteran Ray Chavez. At 106 years old, Chavez is the oldest living survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack.
