Death penalty hearing for accused light rail killer delayed for six months

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A hearing to determine if light rail murder suspect Decarlos Brown will face the death penalty has been delayed by six months.

The Rule 24 hearing set for Thursday is now scheduled for October 27th.

It comes after Brown underwent a mental evaluation and was found incapable to proceed on state charges earlier this month.

Brown is accused of stabbing Iryna Zarutska to death on a train last August.
