Sun and clouds with cooler conditions Friday
Tracking rain Saturday
We’re keeping an eye on a storm system moving across the Deep South that’s bringing some much heavier rain to places along the Gulf Coast and parts of Texas. As it heads toward the Carolinas, though, it’s going to run into a cooler, drier air mass that’s already sitting over us. That’s basically going to lock us into a cloudy, cool pattern heading into tonight and Friday, with highs stuck in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Saturday, expect rain starting very early into the afternoon. Temperatures will struggle to get out of the upper 50s to near 60 degrees, and with a cool northeast breeze, it’s going to feel even chillier.
Rainfall totals will likely stay under a half inch, but this is the biggest situation we have had in some time. Farther south totals will likely be higher.
The good news is we won’t be stuck in this pattern long. The moisture pulls out Saturday night, and Sunday is shaping up to be the payoff. We’re talking sunshine, drier air, and temperatures climbing back close to 70 degrees. If you’ve got outdoor plans, yard work, or just want to enjoy some fresh air, Sunday is definitely the better day to do it.
