Suspect in deadly Charlotte swimming pool party shooting to remain behind bars with no bond

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The suspect in a deadly north Charlotte pool party shooting will remain in jail under no bond. A judge also gave 19-year-old Kamari Knotts a court appointed attorney during his first court appearance on Monday.

Knotts was arrested Saturday. He’s charged with first degree murder and four counts of intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

Witnesses describe chaos, screaming and panic after gunfire erupted at the overcrowded pool party on Hucks Road on March 22nd. 20-year-old Richard Thomas was shot and killed. Two others were also hurt. The pool was rented on an app called Swimply that lets people pay to use pools.
